Demonstration project
Fold
An editorial platform for a publisher whose archive deserved better than a content management system.
Overview
Fold publishes long-form cultural criticism. The brief was a website that could carry the weight of the writing, and an editorial workflow writers would not resent.
Approach
We designed the reading experience before the interface: measure, rhythm, and hierarchy were fixed first, then extended into a component library for editors.
Design
Typography does the structural work. Layout is generated from the content's own logic, so new formats inherit the system instead of breaking it.
Engineering
Static generation, image handling, and edge caching keep the archive fast regardless of how deep a reader travels.
Outcome
Editors publish directly from a structured writing environment, and the reading experience holds together across two decades of archive.
Fold is a demonstration project; no figures are published.
